The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year design experience and possess strong project management skills. A degree in information technology or similar degree/experience is required.

The company has developed an embedded version of the Linux operating system for "appliance computing," with application in server-based thin client computing, point-of-sale, firewalls, routers and other applications.

The Software Development Engineer will design, code and maintain a wide variety of software components for this exciting, cutting-edge line of Linux-based network information appliances. As an example, these projects may include developing web-based software systems and network management; customizing embedded Linux appliances for new market opportunities; and leading web-centered open source development projects with the company's clients and partners.

Experience in Linux/Unix, Internet Technologies, networking, network management and/or security experience is desirable. Specific experience in web-based development with HTTP, HTML/XML, CGI, PERL/PHP and shell scripting in a Linux/Unix environment is preferred. Strong C/C + + , TCP/IP and Linux/UNIX development skills are required. Required is a BS/MS in CS/EE or the equivalent with 2+ years of relevant experience.

Compensation is open depending on experience, but is expected to be in the low $60s to high $70,000 range.
